The Yellow Daffodils in Our Garden

Most of them are gone now  and  I am happy to see them once in a year. Daffodil is the  common name  of the Narcissus flowering plant. They are bulbous plants and are winter hard. They always bloom flowers every spring time. It feels like a therapy for my body and spirit everytime I see them blooming in our garden. Truly such a beauty of nature!

These daffodils are from our garden and was captured last April 2012.

All Narcissus species have a central bell-, bowl-, or disc-shaped corona surrounded by a ring of six floral leaves called the perianth which is united into a tube at the forward edge of the 3-locular ovary. The seeds are black, round and swollen with a hard coat. The three outer segments are sepals, and the three inner segments are petals. Though the traditional daffodil of folklore, poetry, and field may have a yellow to golden-yellow color all over, both in the wild species and due to breeding, the perianth and corona may be variously colored. Breeders have developed some daffodils with double, triple, or ambiguously multiple rows and layers of segments, and several wild species also have known double variants. wikipedia

Narcissus, Daffodil are Coming Soon

I am slowly feeling the spring air. I heard today over the radio weather forecast that the temperature in our area will be milder. They also mentioned that on Thursday, we will have up to 18 degrees Celsius temperature. Spring is almost coming. This is the time of the year where the tulips, narcissus or daffodils will start to grow and bloom in our garden.

Sad to say, I can't see the process of blooming of these flowers because I will be away for a 6-weeks trip to Spain starting March 11, 2012. I believed I will see some of the flowers when I come back in April. If not, I will also see some of these flowers in Spain.

Here are some of the narcissus or daffodils from our garden. This was taken last spring 2011.

You can also see the white flowers of our cherry tree. I can't see it again this year because we already cut this tree. In its area stands now our terrace and carport. The narcissus were also replanted in the other areas of our garden.

Narcissus is a genus of mainly hardy, mostly spring-flowering, bulbs in the Amaryllis family, subfamily Amaryllidoideae. It's common name in English is Daffodil.

Narcissus, Daffodil Flowers

I just happened to know that Narcissus or Daffodil as it is called in English belongs to the family of Amaryllis. It is very interesting that little by little I slowly learn more about plants and flowers especially its name. Here are the Narcissus I took as we happened to pass-by a parking lot near a train station. We got yellow ones in our garden but can't find the pictures now. Lovely flowers indeed!

Yellos Narcissus

I got here a very beautiful Narcisus. This was taken in the garden of our doctor's clinic. I just can't stop to click my camera as I saw this..beautiful flower indeed!

Lovely Narcissus jonquilla.

We found these flowers as we visited our doctor last April of this year. There is a garden on the side of the clinic and I took a photo of it! Lovely flowers!

Characteristics of Narcissus jonquilla and its allies clearly evident; flowers are small to medium sized, perianth segments are flat, corona length varies but is usually short and semi-spherical, foliage may be rush-like and dark green as in the species but phenotypic distillation through crossbreeding between divisions has produced a range of foliage types. Fragrance is usually prominent. Flowers may be borne one to several to a stem, depending upon cultivar.
