Hydrangea, Hortensia and Some Cacti

Busy...busy..busy..February is quite a busy month for me. Despite of that I am very thankful that I was able to accomplish some things. Thanks God for all the blessings also. I am offering you these wonderful flowers called Hydrangea or Hortensia. Back home in the Philippines, we call it million flowers due to its many petals.

Hydrangea flowers are produced from early spring to late autumn; they grow in flowerheads (corymbs or panicles) at the ends of the stems. In many species, the flowerheads contain two types of flowers, small fertile flowers in the middle of the flowerhead, and large, sterile bract-like flowers in a ring around the edge of each flowerhead. Other species have all the flowers sterile and of the same size.

Red Geranium, Pink Roses and What's the Yellow One?

It seems that the weather today is not so friendly. I heard over the radio that the streets and highways in Bavaria, Germany were very icy and slippery this morning, thus caused some car accidents to some drivers. Be careful especially to my friends around in Bavaria.

I found again some flowers in my External Hard Drive. I know I have lot of them especially the ones taken from our garden. I just have a bit difficulty in trying to find it in my EHD because until now I still don't have the time to arrange my flower files. I know one day I can find time to fix and arrange my picture files.

Here are some flowers from our garden. I hope to see them again in summer. I need to plant the others again because they won't come back after winter time like the red Geranium here.

I guess this flower belongs to Asteraceae or Compositae family...it has two visitors at the same time.

Flowers and More Flowers

How's your Saturday peeps! I hope you had a fantastic one. I am thankful after feeling better from a bit headache. I guess this was caused by a visitor who always comes monthly to me. Thanks goodness that I am back to normal now.

Anyway to continue with my post.. I was browsing the picture files from my external drive and found some flowers which I took last summer 2009. I only remember the name of the first flower. This is Dahlia.

Beautiful African Daisy, Gerbera Flowers

These are lovely flowers. Gerbera was named in honour of the German botanist and naturalist Traugott Gerber. It is commonly known as the African Daisy. I bought these flowers and planted in our garden but it won't last during winter time. After that I never buy it anymore. Sometimes when I visit the garden center, I just take images of it. The ones you see below were taken during one of my visits in the garden center. I am glad that the gardener let me took some photos.

I wish every one a happy weekend..Be safe always!

Gerbera species bear a large capitulum with striking, two-lipped ray florets in yellow, orange, white, pink or red colours.

Gerbera is very popular and widely used as a decorative garden plant or as cut flowers.

See You Soon Tulips

I am only wishing for good health for me and family, love, peace of mind and happiness in simply things. So far 2011 was a great year and I am very thankful for it. I am also hoping and praying that some dreams and wishes will come into reality this year.

So now, let me share you and image of the tulips from our garden. This was taken last spring 2011. I am hoping to see them again very soon. Once again, a happy and blessed new year 2012 to everyone!

Yellow Dahlias in Our Garden

It seems that the author of this site is quite busy for a long time. Yes, she is. She had a vacation in Spain last time, the holiday season, some tasks online and offline and so many things that she is taking care of. She has finally the chance to update this blog.

Here are some dahlias from our garden last summer. I love these flowers and can't wait to see them again next year.

I also hope that everyone had a wonderful and memorable Christmas. I am wishing you all in advance a happy New Year!

Dahlias grow naturally in climates which do not experience frost, consequently they are not adapted to withstand sub-zero temperatures. However their tuberous nature enables them to survive periods of dormancy, and this characteristic means that gardeners in temperate climates with frosts can grow dahlias successfully, provided the tubers are lifted from the ground and stored in cool yet frost-free conditions during the winter.

Fungus, Flower or What?

I saw these pictures some months ago in one of my FB friends photos. It was an amazing flower. The comments of some of my friends in Facebook says, that this might be an alien flower. lol! If I am not mistaken this flower is about 3 feet. There is one picture with children, the reason why I can estimate its size. It was really big flower.

I tried to research what kind of plant is this. If I am not mistaken this is a kind of a fungus. This was found in Green Valley in the municipality of Midsayap, district of Cotabato in the Philippines.

See how interesting this flower is?

Beautiful Bromeliads

I love this flower! It is called Bromeliad or Bromeliaceae. It belongs to the family of Ananas or pineapples. Bromeliads are a varied group of organisms, adapted to a number of climates. Foliage take different shapes, from needle thin to broad and flat, symmetrical to irregular, spiky and soft. The foliage, which usually grows in a rosette, is the most widely patterned and colored of any plant in the world. Leaf colors range from maroon, through shades of green, to gold. Varieties may have leaves with red, yellow, white and cream variegations. Others may be spotted with purple, red, or cream, while others have different colors on the tops and bottoms of the leave.

I have hundreds of these before in my garden back home. I only took this image in one of the garden centers nearby.

Snow is Slowly Melting

Hello February! Goodbye January! I hope you are having a good start of February. So far, I have nothing to complain. I just hope that this month will be a better month especially for a dear loveone.

Anyway, let me share these images taken from last week. These are winter snapshots nearby. The first image was taken during our walk last Friday. The second one was taken as we drove to the nearby town for hubby's appointment to the doctor.

I love the snow in winter but I guess we already had that much last December. I can't wait till the next spring is coming.

the small river near our place where we always do some walking. notice that small walking way on the right side?

the snow is slowly melting.. It seems that there is a lake forming in here. We had some flooding in the nearby towns and villages two weeks ago especially those who live near the rivers.

Nature Around and Heidelberg City

I got here different images taken in different time and place. The first image was taken during our visit to Heidelberg, a very beautiful and romantic city in German State of Baden-Württemberg, Germany. The second image was taken in Rhorbach in Bavaria, Germany. Last but not the least, this was taken from our garden. We had a visitor, the cat's neighbor.

Heidelberg — having been a former residence of the Electoral Palatinate in the past — is the seat of the University of Heidelberg which is well-known far beyond Heidelberg's and Germany's borders. Furthermore, Heidelberg is a popular tourist destination due to its romantic and picturesque cityscape's character including the Heidelberg Castle and the baroque style Old Town.
