The Yellow Dahlias in Our Garden

I haven't seen the flowers of the dahlias until now in our garden. I replanted some last spring time but everytime the leaves are growing the snails are eating them. These pests are really unstoppable.

Dahlias are herbaceous perennial plants. Like sunflower, daisy and chrysanthemum, they are members of the Asteraceae or Compositae, dicotyledonous plants. I love these flowers and hope to see them this year before autumn time comes.

Dianthus Barbatus or the Sweet William

Germans call these flowers "Bertnelken". There are already some colors in our garden but I still bought another three colors. I already have white, pink, fuschia, purple and some color combinations.

Dianthus Barbatus or the Sweet William flowers are herbaceous biennial or short-lived perennial plant growing to 30–75 cm tall, with flowers in a dense cluster of up to 30 at the top of the stems. I spread some seeds on our garden last year and I found out that they grow back again this year. I was so happy with it. I will see if I can get more colors the next time I go to the garden center.

Spring Time is Garden Time

Spring time is truly garden time for me but sad to say, it is still very cold outside. I went this morning in our garden to check some flowers and I am happy to see that a lot of tulips and other flowers are already blooming. I want to do a bit cleaning and planting but decided not to staty too long because it breeze is still cold. I don't want to get sick only for this reason. I can wait until the weather will be nicer and friendlier in the coming days or weeks.

Spring time is just one of my favorite seasons of the year! Here are some of the few blooms from our garden.

these tulips always love to come back every year. I already have this for seven years in our garden.

the daffodils are slowly getting weakened. These are the first ones that bloomed in our garden since almost three weeks ago.

I love the color of this viola flowers. It is one of my favorite colors. They are also blooming now. Other colors such as yellow, red and orange are also in our garden.

Roses for Easter Greetings

I already read a lot of Easter greetings  from my  friends in  facebook especially the ones from Asia.  If you are a Christian, you surely know what is Easter. For those who don't know  it, Easter  is a feast celebrating resurrection of Jesus Christ on the third day after his crucifixion at Calvary as described in the New Testament.

Here  is a bundle of lovely  and beautiful   roses  for all of you!

First Bloom in Our Garden

Spring time is finally here! The calendar in front of me says that spring in Germany officially starts on March 20 this year. I went outside our garden today to look for the first blooms of the flowers. I already saw a lot. One of it are the tulip flowers. Hyacinths, violas and the little white wild flowers are also blooming. It makes me happy again to see the beauty of nature in our garden. I love it!

I Love These Orange Daisies or Asteraceae

I am quite familiar with these  flowers because our neighbor before had a lot of these in her garden. I also had a schoolmate whose name is Daisy. Thats is why this flower is known to me. It belongs to the family of  Asteraceae or Compositae, commonly referred to as daisy, aster or sunflower family. It is said to be one of the most largest flowering plant families in the world.

I planted these flowers in our garden before but it is  not coming back after winter. There are wild ones that I can see in our garden flowering at the moment. Spring time is here and I already see a lot of them.

Daisy roots are usually taproots, and sometimes fibrous. Stems are generally erect, but sometimes prostrate to ascending. Some species have underground stems in the form of caudices or rhizomes, these can be fleshy or woody depending on the species. Daisy roots are usually taproots, and sometimes fibrous. Narcissus, Daffodil are Coming Soon

I am slowly feeling the spring air. I heard today over the radio weather forecast that the temperature in our area will be milder. They also mentioned that on Thursday, we will have up to 18 degrees Celsius temperature. Spring is almost coming. This is the time of the year where the tulips, narcissus or daffodils will start to grow and bloom in our garden.

Sad to say, I can't see the process of blooming of these flowers because I will be away for a 6-weeks trip to Spain starting March 11, 2012. I believed I will see some of the flowers when I come back in April. If not, I will also see some of these flowers in Spain.

Here are some of the narcissus or daffodils from our garden. This was taken last spring 2011.

You can also see the white flowers of our cherry tree. I can't see it again this year because we already cut this tree. In its area stands now our terrace and carport. The narcissus were also replanted in the other areas of our garden.

Narcissus is a genus of mainly hardy, mostly spring-flowering, bulbs in the Amaryllis family, subfamily Amaryllidoideae. It's common name in English is Daffodil.

Geflammte Tulpen, Flamed Tulips

Tulips are coming soon. Spring season is the time of the year where tulip flowers first bloom. I a hundred in our garden. The one you see below is the so-called Geflammte Tulpen of flamed tulips in English. Isn't it a lovely one? I love tulips because it always reminds me of a new beginning...the new beginning of life everytime it blooms.

The tulip is a perennial, bulbous plant with showy flowers in the genus Tulipa and belongs to the family Liliaceae.

Just Our Garden

This is just a part of our garden. For now you cannot see any flowers outside because it is winter season. When spring comes, I know I will be seeing again some flowers especially the tulips. I planted more last autumn time and can't wait to see it. Our garden will also have a new look this year because we did some changes in it.

You can here some roses, cosmos, gumamela or hibiscus, poppy peridot, gladiola, lavender and many many more.

Red Geranium, Pink Roses and What's the Yellow One?

It seems that the weather today is not so friendly. I heard over the radio that the streets and highways in Bavaria, Germany were very icy and slippery this morning, thus caused some car accidents to some drivers. Be careful especially to my friends around in Bavaria.

I found again some flowers in my External Hard Drive. I know I have lot of them especially the ones taken from our garden. I just have a bit difficulty in trying to find it in my EHD because until now I still don't have the time to arrange my flower files. I know one day I can find time to fix and arrange my picture files.

Here are some flowers from our garden. I hope to see them again in summer. I need to plant the others again because they won't come back after winter time like the red Geranium here.

I guess this flower belongs to Asteraceae or Compositae family...it has two visitors at the same time.

Pink rose looking on the cloudy day..will see them again this spring time!

Flowers and More Flowers

How's your Saturday peeps! I hope you had a fantastic one. I am thankful after feeling better from a bit headache. I guess this was caused by a visitor who always comes monthly to me. Thanks goodness that I am back to normal now.

Anyway to continue with my post.. I was browsing the picture files from my external drive and found some flowers which I took last summer 2009. I only remember the name of the first flower. This is Dahlia.

Beautiful African Daisy, Gerbera Flowers

These are lovely flowers. Gerbera was named in honour of the German botanist and naturalist Traugott Gerber. It is commonly known as the African Daisy. I bought these flowers and planted in our garden but it won't last during winter time. After that I never buy it anymore. Sometimes when I visit the garden center, I just take images of it. The ones you see below were taken during one of my visits in the garden center. I am glad that the gardener let me took some photos.

I wish every one a happy weekend..Be safe always!

Gerbera species bear a large capitulum with striking, two-lipped ray florets in yellow, orange, white, pink or red colours.

Gerbera is very popular and widely used as a decorative garden plant or as cut flowers.

Yellow Dahlias in Our Garden

It seems that the author of this site is quite busy for a long time. Yes, she is. She had a vacation in Spain last time, the holiday season, some tasks online and offline and so many things that she is taking care of. She has finally the chance to update this blog.

Here are some dahlias from our garden last summer. I love these flowers and can't wait to see them again next year.

I also hope that everyone had a wonderful and memorable Christmas. I am wishing you all in advance a happy New Year!

Dahlias grow naturally in climates which do not experience frost, consequently they are not adapted to withstand sub-zero temperatures. However their tuberous nature enables them to survive periods of dormancy, and this characteristic means that gardeners in temperate climates with frosts can grow dahlias successfully, provided the tubers are lifted from the ground and stored in cool yet frost-free conditions during the winter.

Fungus, Flower or What?

I saw these pictures some months ago in one of my FB friends photos. It was an amazing flower. The comments of some of my friends in Facebook says, that this might be an alien flower. lol! If I am not mistaken this flower is about 3 feet. There is one picture with children, the reason why I can estimate its size. It was really big flower.

I tried to research what kind of plant is this. If I am not mistaken this is a kind of a fungus. This was found in Green Valley in the municipality of Midsayap, district of Cotabato in the Philippines.

See how interesting this flower is?

Wild Flowers on the Walking Way

We always see wild flowers on the walking way. This is true especially during summer season. Since Autumn is coming now, most of the wild flowers are slowly gone. The beauty of nature always wonders me....so as the wild flowers around. See nobody take care of them but they survive. How much more for us when Somebody is taking care of us.

Peace to everyone and always be thankful of being here in this world.

I can't remember the exact name of these yellow wild flowers. I have a book about wild flowers but I can't find it right now.

Seeing the trees, valleys, grasses and all nature around makes me always relax and comfortable. I love nature!

Monday

Lovely Gerbera Flowers

This flower was named after the German botanist Traugott Gerber. When I was still young our neighbor had these flowers and we call it daisy. Gerbera is also commonly known as African Daisy, Transvaal Daisy, and Barberton Daisy.

Gerbera is very popular and widely used as a decorative garden plant or as cut flowers. The domesticated cultivars are mostly a result of a cross between Gerbera jamesonii and another South African species Gerbera viridifolia. The cross is known as Gerbera hybrida. Thousands of cultivars exist. They vary greatly in shape and size. Colours include white, yellow, orange, red, and pink. The centre of the flower is sometimes black. Often the same flower can have petals of several different colours.

The Cosmos Flower Has A Visitor

As I went to our garden to breath some fresh air this morning, I heard some sounds. I was trying to look around where it came from. I was even afraid because I heard a loud sound from bees. There, they go! I saw them sipping the flowers from the wild grape vines.

The cosmos flower below has also a visitor who is trying to sip the minerals in its flower. Hopefully next month, I can see again the blooms from the cosmos flowers in our garden.

This was taken from our garden last summer 2010.

Cosmos is a genus, with the same common name of Cosmos, of about 20–26 species of annual and perennial plants in the family Asteraceae. Cosmos are herbaceous perennial plants growing 0.3–2 m tall. The leaves are simple, pinnate, or bipinnate, and arranged in opposite pairs. The flowers are produced in a capitulum with a ring of broad ray florets and a center of disc florets; flower color is very variable between the different species. The genus includes several ornamental plants popular in gardens.

Lilium Flowers Are Blooming in Our Garden

One of my favorite flowers in our garden are currently blooming now. Thanks to the rain for the past days until today. It makes the plants and the flowers happy. The farmers in our area might be smiling at the moment. They finally have the rain that they are asking for their fields. The only person that is not happy is hubby because he cannot work outside for our garage and terrace.

The lilies you see below are only some of the flowers that I planted in our garden. I am happy seeing them blooming right now.

Lilium is a genus of herbaceous flowering plants growing from bulbs. Most species are native to the temperate northern hemisphere. They comprise a genus of about 110 species in the lily family (Liliaceae).

Yellow Begonia

Begonia is the common name and the generic name of all genus that belongs to flowering plant family Begoniaceae. It is a perennial plant which means that it can live for over two years. But with the very cold winter in Germany, all the begonias in our garden were gone last time. That was the reason why I did not bought some last year.

a beautiful yellow Begonia. I took this image in a garden center.
